Dirty Cash: the ethics of free money

shoes cash sheets

A colleague of mine was recently overpaid $7000 by our employer. Naturally the money was responsibly spent by snorting blow off of strippers’ legs, cheap cocktails, and partying in a hotel room with a dwarf rabbit named Fredrick. After he woke up, terrified and coming down in a bathtub full of ice he noticed Fredrick was missing with the briefcase of money. In an attempted to piece together his past 24 hours I sifted through a handful of $50 notes that were scattered throughout the bed sheets, interwoven with rabbit fur and an 8-inch stiletto, and I started to wonder about free money.

autoKratz remix comp!

l_07646c0da44b49cd861a9b66906ec032

A band that has just been announced to be heading to Australia as part of the 2009 Parklife, autoKratz, has made another announcement; they have created a remix competition. The song being offered to be butchered, reworked and brutalised to your hearts content is called Can’t Get Enough and can be heard on their Myspace. The competition is open now and closes on July 12. We hear you asking what’s in it for me? Well the band will judge the remixes with Kitsuné label boss Gildas and the chosen remix will be released as part of autoKratz’s next single. Not only that, the winners and runners up will have their remixes featured on the autoKratz MySpace page, whilst also receiving gig tickets, T-Shirts and other goodies. So if you want your work to appear on the Kitsuné label have your remixed finished by July 12 and email it to management@autokratz.com. Alternatively you can upload your remix on your Myspace page and leave a comment on the autoKratz page with “I’ve remixed Can’t Get Enough”. At Heads Will Roll we recommend doing both as you might get a fair bit of exposure to your Myspace by curious remixers and fans.

What’s that sound? It’s the sound of Shoes!

The weekend is drawing closer and Tiga wants you all to go out and have some hedonistic fun. The film clip for his latest song Shoes has been released and it works brilliantly with the song, it’s absurd and ridiculous and at Heads Will Roll we just can’t get enough.

This weekend there are a few fun ways you can burn off that Easter chocolate. This Friday Easy Tiger are bringing Designer Drugs all the way from NYC to play at Shape. All the info can be found in our handy What’s On? post here. Saturday we suggest staying at Shape for Shazam’s single launch. The man himself will be playing along with Jamie Doom and Gus Hoodrat from Bang Gang. All the info is one click away, here. However if you’re all Shaped out you could try venturing to Sexy. Sexy is a new event being held at Republic. Republic , if you didn’t know, is positioned on Shafto lane, down the Wellington Street end, and when it’s not featuring bands and DJs it’s a male strip club. The place has a sheep shearing shed vibe, and if that’s not enough to get you in the mood, it also features some fairly decent tunes and after a few drinks the dance floor stays packed.

Till next time,

Heads Will Roll.

It’s Friday! Kasabian – Vlad the Impaler video

Kasabian are back with a new song and video. The track is available as a free download from here, for a short time only, but you know how the internet works, so it shouldn’t be too hard to track down a copy of it once they take it down from their website. The video features Noel Feilding, you may know him as Vince Noir from the Mighty Boosh, and has a Guy Ritchie feel to it. Did you watch his latest film RocknRolla? It was pretty good actually and has made me fairly excited about his take on the Sherlock Homes character he’s working on with Robert Downing Jr. Well like I said in the title, it’s Friday and we should all be excited as there’s things to see and people to do.
